This custom field type provides various secure field types. Jira administrators can create numbered, text, and date custom fields like Jira standard ones. After defining view and edit permissions in the context screen, users without permissions can´t see or edit the hidden information and will get a message that they are not permitted to view or edit.

To create and configure the Secure Fields custom field, you must be logged in as a user with Jira Administrator permissions.

JQL

  1. Go to AppsManage your appsCustom Field Suite

  2. Click on Create custom field button on the right side of the screen.

  3. Select Secure Fields and click Next.

  4. Name and add a description to your field then click Next.

  5. Select a field type and give View/Edit permissions to users, groups, project roles, reporter or assignee, then click Next.

  6. Associate the field to the appropriate screens and click Create. You must associate a field to a screen before it will be displayed.

  7. Click on 1 Context and click Create, edit or delete contexts on the dialogue.

  8. Click Edit custom field config.

  9. Set the type and permissions.

Note

Steps 5, 6 and 7 are not required. You can use the default values that are set in the app configuration screen.

That’s it! You can now navigate to your issue and enhance it with Secure Fields.

Note

Secure Fields can´t be used in JQL advanced search because of sensitive and restricted information.
