Introduction
Footnotes are superscript numbers (1) placed within the body of text and collected at the bottom of a page. They can be used for two things:
As a citation
As a provider of additional information.
For example, say you want to add an interesting comment to a sentence you have written, but the comment is not directly related to the argument of your paragraph.
Include additional information without distracting the reader from the main text.
Tooltip is a message that is displayed when a user hovers over or clicks to UI element such as an icon, a highlighted word, or a button. Tooltips are short messages related to specific UI elements that provide additional explanations and guide users towards taking specific actions.
Tooltips are best when they provide additional explanation for an unfamiliar form to some users or reasoning for what may seem like an unusual request.
Try to keep the explanation message short and understanding. Using many and long tooltips can distract users from the main content.
How to use
To add the Footnotes or Tooltips to a Confluence page:
In the Confluence editor, choose + > Other Macros or
Find and select the Footnotes and Tooltips macro.
Alternatively, type '/' and the beginning of an element (tool or things in the insert menu) to see a list of suggestions and enter 'Footnotes and Tooltips.' Intuitive configuration dialogue helps users to create and customise buttons faster and easier.
With live preview, it is possible to show results in a realtime without saving the configuration.
