Jira Expressions Field provides the user with ways to freely configure and adapt the field to their needs to enhance issue data. Select one of the many available expressions and display them on an issue. Jira Expressions Field can display dates, users, content and much more. It is a way to keep you updated all while keeping the issue relevant and easy to navigate.

Jira Expressions Field is only available as a custom field type. It is not possible to define general values or any other setting options. Use configuration scheme context to define standard values.

Create and configure the custom field

To configure Jira Expressions Field, you must be logged in as a user with Jira Administrator permissions.

  1. Go to SettingsIssuesCustom Fields

  2. Find existing CFS - Jira Expressions Field.

  3. Associate the field to the appropriate screens. You must associate a field to a screen before it will be displayed.

  4. Go to Contexts and default value and select Edit custom field config.

  5. Select one of the available expressions from the dropdown menu or enter your own.

  6. Select which issue you want to test the expression on (last 20 created issues are available here).

  7. Submit.

To use Custom Field Suite expressions make sure to assign the matching field to the issue you want to display it using Jira Expressions Field.
